Final animation
My final animation consists of two scenes, one of them is throwing a ball, the other one is walking. There was supposed to be an interaction with other characters, so for the ball scene, I used a character Tuna (downloaded from Highend3D.com), who is catching the ball. For the scene with Blake walking and looking around I used Tuna again, who is hiding behind a wall/pillar made out of a polygon cube.
The ball scene is much shorter than the other one but was way more difficult to create. I mainly struggled with connecting the ball to wrists of both characters. After many failed attempts I decided to use another ball and exchange it for the original one in the frame where Tuna catches the ball. Posing of Blake was based on me throwing a snowball, Tuna was based on a baseball player and I really like how that turned out. It is obvious that Blake was the one where I was learning by the method attempt-fail, but posing Tuna was much easier and quicker, so my progress is visible even in that one short scene.
My other scene is longer but took less time, because I learned what I need to do creating the ball scene. In this scene I tried to work with facial expressions as well, so Blake is frowning when he is looking around for Tuna and at the end of the video, Tuna smirks because he is successfully hidden.
What I found really difficult while working on cameras was the smooth, fluid movement of the camera while following a character/object. I can see it is still not perfect but I have learned a lot and I think working on 3D animation next time will be much easier and quicker than creating these first scenes of mine.
For the showreel, I added free song by Scott Holmes from the website https://freemusicarchive.org
